Key Responsibilities
Position Purpose
To maintain and repair plant and equipment in compliance with legislation, codes of practice & standard operating procedures in order to optimise equipment availability and performance. Electrical and mechanical Fault finding, repair, maintenance and overhaul of machinery, plant, equipment as well as the installation and removal of machinery to ensure availability and reliability in order to increase productivity.
Position Outputs
To carry out all maintenance repairs & modification on machinery, plant & equipment in accordance to the requirement of the code of practice 29 & the occupational healthy & safety act ensuring high standard are maintained
To evaluate & analysis, cause & oversee the repairs of breakdown & determining the optional way of dealing with the problem, to achieve a quality & cost effective solution & operational availability of equipment & min downtime
To regulate break checks, to twice daily, to avoid brake failure, eliminating accident, delays & unnecessary cost
To have embedded knowledge of rigging, welding & gas cutting procedures, ensuring effective maintenance
To repair AC electrical & DC electrical equipment and to assist electrical to ensure equipment is repaired as soon as possible
Have sufficient knowledge of occupational healthy & safety ACT and Regulations to enforce safe working procedures, for the purpose of safety employees & people around you
To carryout repairs to defect as per examiners defect list
To ensure safe working and minimize breakdowns to equipment and machinery
To maintain & repair hydraulic systems, compressor, dalmatics system, water accumulators & diesel engines
To carry out hydraulic repairs & breakdown on spreaders to ensure safe working & minimize breakdown
Electrical and Mechanical fault finding and repairs to electro hydraulic machines including CNC and motorised equipment
Conduct PM’s electrical and mechanical and report on defects
Electrical and Mechanical overhaul, modifications, upgrade of machines and equipment
New machines installations both electrical and mechanical
Work and assist supervisor in conjunction with project management, design and staff control
Requirements
Qualifications and Experience
1. Red Seal Artisan Qualification -Electro Mechanician (Legislation-prerequisites). 2. Be in a possession of a drivers license (08) and be able to drive the vehicle. 3. Must be willing to work shifts and over time. 4. Must be able to service other outlying depots/Ports (PE, Ngqurha).

KNOWLEDGE: Knowledge of Straddle Carriers •Competent to read & interpret all mechanical & electrical schematic drawings & workshop manuals . •Technical Knowledge in mechanical, electrical & electronics •Familiar with & has full understanding of maintenance process with the TPT(preferable) •Familiar with Terminal layouts, location of machinery & equipment.
