About Transnet

Transnet SOC Ltd is a large South African rail, port and pipeline company, headquartered in the Carlton Centre in Johannesburg. It was formed as a limited company on 1 April 1990. A majority of the company’s stock is owned by the Department of Public Enterprises, or DPE, of the South African government.

Key Responsibilities

  • To ensure that the delivery of the service promise as contained in the Transnet Port
  • Terminals Customer Service Plan is met. To proactively research customer
  • intelligence and providing an analysis and assessment service for information
  • required by Key Accounts Managers.

Position Outputs

1. Optimize customer service in the business unit by managing customer service execution interface on a day-to-day basis.
2. Manage terminal service performance on behalf of customers through SLA process.
3. Custodian for customer service Dashboard/KPI at the business unit.
4. Facilitate relationship building with all key internal stakeholders (internal and external capabilities).
5. Support customer service initiatives and other ad hoc commercial activities as required by the business.
6. Account for management of key and ad hoc customers contracts.
7. Initiative and execute customer centric processes and improvements in the Terminal.

Requirements

Years of Experience with a formal qualification: • Min 4 years’ relevant experience in a large enterprise, preferably with 1 yr supervisory or specialist experience Typical Qualifications: • Relevant B-degree or B. Tech National/Advanced Diploma (NQF 6/7), (in Marketing) • Transnet leadership Development Programme (advantage) Number of years with certificates or no formal qualification: • 8 Years relevant and solid experience in taking accountability for the operation of own work area or as member of a team, concerning the quality, standards and outputs related to defined work procedures with at least 2 yrs at supervisory level or specialist experience

Competencies Required: Experience and knowledge of terminal operations Extensive knowledge of after sales processes Problem solving, including analysing and follow-up skills Ability to pay attention to detail from a service delivery perspective Computer literate (MS Office) Knowledge required: Computer literate (MS Office and SAP modules) Understanding of Commercial contracts Standard operating procedures for each sector TPT tariffs Ability to communicate effectively with all Customers and internal stakeholders Professional and courteous Skills Required: Report writing and presentation skills Research skills Exceptional interpersonal skills, with the ability to command respect
