Africa Talent by Deloitte (Africa Talent) is a standalone division of Deloitte, owned by Deloitte Africa and Deloitte Netherlands, based in South Africa. The goal is to meet the growing demand for Talent in Africa and Europe; by recruiting and developing Talent throughout Sub Saharan Africa in order to service the diverse needs and to enable projects at our clients.

Talent employed will have the full experience of Deloitte, while getting both international and local exposure to a diverse set of clients, working remotely from Africa.  It will take advantage of the demographic reality of Africa as a future source of talent for both Africa and Europe and at its core, the goal is to create employment in Africa and invest in African talent.

Key Responsibilities

You will be working across departments within Deloitte and be involved with clients of various sizes, types and business segments within the private and public sectors. You will quickly be involved in client proposals and help produce key analyses, reports and products. Deloitte will make sure that you get up to speed with the latest models, methodologies, tools and frameworks so that you feel confident approaching clients. This will be your fast track to excel in working as a junior consultant. As a result, you will become part of a network of young professionals across the competencies in Risk Advisory.

In this role, you will make an impact by:

•    Analysing business processes to identify potential risks or bottlenecks in the financial and operational processes. Providing advisory for optimisation purposes – often through deployment of automation and other new technologies.
•    Providing deep insights into existing and emerging risks in different processes and organisations through analytics and deployment of new technologies.
•    Performing comprehensive system and business reviews to provide our clients with practical recommendations to enhance governance, quality, and execution.
•    Supporting our clients with data-driven decision-making to identify areas for improvement, optimisation and provide related recommendations to executive management and boards.
•    Implementing risk or controls assessment tools based on data-driven methods.

Requirements

Skills and experience relevant to all three profiles include: 
•    A degree in subjects such as statistics, mathematics, computer science, artificial intelligence (AI), Physics, or similar with a focus on technology, economics, accounting, finance and/or information management
•    A curious learning mentality
•    The ability to work independently but also as an excellent teammate
•    Strong problem-solving, analytical and troubleshooting skills
•    Strong communication and interpersonal skills
•    Curiosity and passion about data and technology.

More specifically for the three profiles we are looking for skills and experience within: 

Data science 
•    Ability to translate client needs into models and features from structured and unstructured data
•    Fluency in relevant programming languages such as Python, R and/or SQL
•    Experience working with or knowledge of cloud systems with data and deployment.
•    Interest within AI ethics and governance

Business analytics
•    Knowledge about data visualisation tools like Tableau or Power BI
•    Experience in Excel, Alteryx or other data management tools
•    Experience in relevant programming languages such as Python, R and SQL

Data governance
•    Process analysis, design and implementation
•    Insights into data disciplines such as ETL/Data pipelines, database administration or data analytics
•    Data modelling and data architecture.
