Key Responsibilities

The successful candidate will be responsible for:

  1. Identification of hazardous workplace conditions with respect to health and hygiene.
  2. Development of health hazard exposure programmes.
  3. Analysing incidents and non-conformance in order to identify deficiencies and contributing factors in the health and hygiene management system.
  4. Effective record keeping of all medical records.
  5. Providing effective health and wellness training as part of medical examination.
  6. Development of site specific health and wellness work instructions in alignment with the company’s policy, standards and procedures.
  7. Ensuring surveillance is conducted on all employees, contractors in alignment with the exposure programmes and risk based medical surveillance programme.
  8. Ensuring effective follow up consultations is maintained on all medical surveillance, as and when required.
  9. Monitoring and measuring the hygiene/health programme.
  10. Ensuring that health related in-house training is arranged

Requirements

Qualifications, skills, knowledge and experience required:

  1. Diploma or Degree in Nursing and Certificates in Occupational Health and Audiometry and Spirometry.
  2. Three to Five years’ experience in Occupational Health in a mining and/or manufacturing environment.
  3. Registered with South African Nursing Council.
  4. Comprehensive knowledge of the requirements of the MHS Act and Acts applicable to AfriSam Activities.
  5. Computer literacy including MS Excel, MSWord, experience with SHEQ systems and OMPAssist/SAP will be deemed advantageous.
  6. Valid unendorsed EB driver’s license.
  7. Dispensing license for primary healthcare drugs will be an advantage
