About The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government

The Western Cape Department of Infrastructure delivers human settlements according to the provisions of the National Housing Code, with a strategy geared towards its unique vision of the province. In order to turn its vision into reality, the Department has a practical mission geared around a set of core values.

In order to make sure that it delivers according to its mandate, the Department has an organisational structure consisting of a Ministry, Office of the Head of Department, three Chief Directorates and 14 Directorates, each with a defined set of responsibilities. The Department delivers services to the public through 16 housing programmes, and an overview of each programme, along with the qualification criteria for beneficiaries, is provided. In addition, the Department is also responsible for overseeing the Rental Housing Tribunal, which provides free advice on rental issues to landlords and tenants.

The Department of Infrastructure, Western Cape Government has an opportunity for competent individual to render a service in electronic records management by ensuring the scanning, maintenance and management of electronic files.

Key Responsibilities

Opening of physical and electronic files and maintainance of file covers; Correct and neat filing of documentation, including the maintainance of index pages in physical and electronic files; Assist the supervisor with allocation of refence numbers; Handle client enquiries, requests and pending of files; Assist with the administration of MyContent by adding folders and ensuring scanning of documents.

Requirements

Grade 12 or equivalent qualification. Recommendation: Registry Clerks Course.

A good understanding of the following: Registry operations; Records disposal programme; Proven computer literacy; Ability to work under pressure and meet deadlines; Basic knowledge of MS Office; Able to work independently and in a team, Good communication skills (verbal and written).
