About Bokoni Platinum Mines

The Bokoni mine is a large open pit mine located in the north-eastern part of South Africa in Polokwane, Limpopo. Bokoni represents one of the largest platinum reserves in South Africa having estimated reserves of 75.7 million troy ounces of platinum. The mine produces around 55,000 troy ounces of platinum/year.

Key Responsibilities

Experience in Decline shaft sinking Development, High speed development.
Good Knowledge and Experience of Mechanised Mining Operations.
Compliance with SHE Standards, regulations and practices.
Adhere to PPE requirements.
Conduct safe behavioural observations.
Attending the SHE meetings and participate on the campaigns.
Responsible for the Dump Truck Operating Standards.
Responsible for the effective utilization of the dump truck.
Conducting daily inspections as per the dump truck checklists.
Reporting of defects and faults.
Providing assistance during the dump truck maintenance and installation.
Monitoring the filling operation and ensure that it is up to standard.
Transportation of Ore to the designated and tipping areas.
Adhering to tipping procedures and protocols.
Liaising with Control Room and operational staff during the shift.

Requirements

Grade 12, for all new applicants.
Grade 10/AET Level 4/NQF Level 1 for all previously retrenched Bokoni
Platinum employees.
Completed Dump Truck Operator Training.
Valid Operating Licence.
At least two year’s experience within a mechanised mining environment.
Literacy in English.
Competent B.
No limitations to working underground in confined spaces.
Fitness Certificate.
Understanding & application of Health & Safety Principles.
